Motorsports sanctioning bodies such as the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) and USAC (United States Auto Club) require structured training and proven skills before granting a competition license.

Novice Permit (Novice License)
- First step into competitive racing
- Grants entry into SCCA Driver’s Schools and novice-level races
- Focused on fundamentals, safety, and awareness
Completing the Three Day Racing School qualifies you for an SCCA Novice Permit.
Full Competition License
- Authorizes entry into regional and national SCCA races.
- No novice restrictions.
- Widely recognized across multiple sanctioning bodies.
Graduates who complete the Three Day Racing School + Two Day Advanced Racing School qualify for an SCCA Full Competition License.

The United States Auto Club (USAC) oversees some of the most prestigious oval and road racing series in the country. Skip Barber is proud to issue licenses for competition under USAC sanction.
USAC Sports Car & Open Wheel Licenses

The Skip Barber Formula Race Series is our very own professional-style championship, designed as the perfect proving ground for drivers working their way up the ladder. To compete, drivers must hold a recognized racing license — which Skip Barber can issue directly through our training programs.
By racing in our Formula Series, drivers not only sharpen their racecraft but also build the résumé and experience needed to progress into higher-level series like USF Juniors, SRO Touring Car, and beyond.
Two Day Advanced Racing School graduates are eligible to begin racing in the Formula Race Series.
Additional training, such as Advanced Coaching, is recommended for drivers looking to be competitive from day one.
Participation in this series provides valuable wheel-to-wheel racing experience in identically prepared cars, emphasizing driver talent over equipment.
