Multiple Podium Finishes On Debut For Skip Barber Alumni!

This weekend, Skip Barber Racing School alumni stood on the podium at the Streets of St. Petersburg, claimed a victory in the NASCAR Xfinity Series from Circuit of the Americas, and locked out the front row in the NASCAR Cup Series. Standout NASCAR Xfinity Series rookie and Skip Barber graduate Connor Zilisch earned his second-career victory in the series with a win at Circuit of the Americas. After winning his debut race at Watkins Glen last year, Zilisch is now 2-for-2 on road courses. Behind Zilisch this weekend were fellow Skip Barber alumni Austin Hill (4th), Christian Eckes (5th), and Ross Chastain (8th). Meanwhile, the Streets of St. Petersburg were playing host to the NTT IndyCar Series, Indy NXT, USF2000, and more. Former Skip Barber Race Series competitors Jeshua Alianell and Caleb Gafrarar starred in their USF2000 debuts with each driver earning a podium finish. Gafrarar, meanwhile, tacked on a pole position to his debut weekend. Skip Barber alumni were featured at every level of the open-wheel ladder as graduate Myles Rowe began his sophomore campaign in Indy NXT with a top-five finish. Lastly, Sunday’s main event saw Skip Barber Racing School graduate Colton Herta start on the front row while Josef Newgarden (3rd), Kyle Kirkwood (5th), and Alexander Rossi (10th) finished in the top ten. Lastly, the NASCAR Cup Series held court at Circuit of the Americas where a pair of Skip Barber alumni, 23XI teammates Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace, locked out the front row. Wallace would go on to win Stage 1 and Reddick would end the day third. Fellow Skip Barber alumni Kyle Busch, who led a race-high 42 laps, was fifth when the checkered flag flew. Chris Buescher (7th), Noah Gragson (8th), Alex Bowman (9th), and Todd Gilliland (10th) also had strong runs. Looking ahead to this weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series will visit Phoenix Raceway. Further down the line, the NTT IndyCar Series will begin to prepare for a trip across the country and a visit to The Thermal Club on March 23.
