Skip Barber Racing School alumni Bubba Wallace added a crown jewel victory to his racing resume with a win in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Wallace led the field to the green flag in a pair of late-race restarts and eked out enough fuel to earn his third NASCAR Cup Series victory. Wallace was one of four Skip Barber graduates to finish the Brickyard 400 in the top ten as Todd Gilliland (6th), Alex Bowman (9th), and Carson Hocevar (10th) all had strong runs. Gilliland’s sixth-place finish matches the sixth-place finish he scored in last year’s Brickyard 400 and now stands as the best result of his 2025 season. In addition to Wallace’s victory, Skip Barber alumni Connor Zilisch captured the win in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday evening. This was Zilisch’s third-consecutive win in the Xfinity Series, and it gave Dale Earnhardt Jr. and JR Motorsports their 100th victory as a team. Zilisch’s teammate, and fellow Skip Barber graduate, Sammy Smith finished seventh. On the West Coast, the NTT IndyCar Car Series and Indy NXT were at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca where Skip Barber alumni Max Taylor and Myles Rowe both netted top-five finishes in Indy NXT. Rowe was fourth in Race 1 and eighth in Race 2 while Max Taylor came home fourth in Race 2. Colton Herta’s podium-finish in the IndyCar Series race capped off the weekend for Skip Barber graduates. Across the Atlantic, Skip Barber graduate Zak Brown and his McLaren Racing outfit scored a 1-2 finish in the Belgian Grand Prix at the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. This was the tenth win of the season for McLaren. With another ten Grands Prix still ahead of them, McLaren seems poised to eclipse their record of 15 wins in a season set by Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna in 1988.
