Ten Skip Barber Racing School alumni finished in the top twelve of the NASCAR Cup Series’ Saturday night showdown from Atlanta. Beginning with Alex Bowman’s third-place finish, Skip Barber graduates locked out the next eleven spots with Tyler Reddick (4th), Erik Jones (5th), Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (6th), Zane Smith (7th), Ty Dillon (8th), Chris Buescher (9th), Carson Hocevar (10th), Connor Zilisch (11th), and AJ Allmendinger (12th). Meanwhile, at Lime Rock Park, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series held its inaugural race at the iconic road course. Skip Barber Racing School Development Driver Will Lambros completed a successful debut in the series, moving up multiple spots in the 100-lap race. There was a strong contingency of Skip Barber alumni who joined Lambros on the grid including Jake Garcia, Tanner Gray, Matt Crafton, and sportscar regular Jordan Taylor. Zilisch, who was pulling double duty this weekend, also added a fourth-place finish in Friday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race to his record book. Fellow Skip Barber alumni Brandon Jones won Stage 2 from Atlanta. Jones was pulling his own form of double duty this weekend with the 28-year-old making his second Trans-Am start of the season. With the NASCAR Xfinity Series racing on Friday, it freed up Jones’ Saturday to travel to Road America and strap into a TA entry. Jones would go on to finish fifth in the 25-lap race that was eventually won by Skip Barber graduate Chris Dyson. In the TA2 category, Skip Barber alumni Tristan McKee finished second. Across the Atlantic, Skip Barber alumni Colin Braun finished the Spa 24 Hours with a third-place finish in the race’s Pro-Am class. Lastly, Skip Barber alumni Zak Brown and his McLaren Racing outfit scored a 1-2 finish in the Austrian Grand Prix.
