Skip Barber Racing School alumni Josh Berry gave Wood Brothers Racing their best non-superspeedway finish since 2022 with an impressive drive on Sunday afternoon in Phoenix. Berry was the highest-finishing Ford in the NASCAR Cup Series race and earned crucial points in both stages. Fellow alumni Chris Buescher (5th) continued his hot start with his third top five finish in the season’s opening four races. Joining Berry and Buescher in the top ten were Skip Barber graduates Alex Bowman (7th), Kyle Busch (8th), and Zane Smith (9th). Bowman, meanwhile, was just 0.045 seconds shy of a win in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday. Bowman went from fourth to the lead as he executed a four-wide pass during the race’s overtime restart before ending the race in second after a thrilling last-lap battle. Other Skip Barber Racing School alumni in the top ten were Brandon Jones (3rd) and Christian Eckes (8th). With the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series not making the trip west, the ARCA Menards Series opened up the weekend’s action, where Skip Barber graduate Lawless Alan finished fourth. Next weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will visit Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
