Skip Barber Racing School alumni Kyle Kirkwood emerged from a thrilling NTT IndyCar Series race on Sunday night to earn his first-career oval race win, adding a third victory to his 2025 season. Five different Skip Barber graduates led at least one lap of the 260-lap race from Gateway, headlined by Conor Daly’s 36 laps at the front of the field. Alumni Santino Ferrucci (5th) earned his third-consecutive top five finish, a hot streak that began with a fifth-place finish at the Indianapolis 500. Fellow Skip Barber graduate Daly (6th) scored his season-best finish. Graduates also found success in Indy NXT where Myles Rowe finished second and set a new mark for his career-best finish in Indy NXT. This was also Rowe’s best finish on an oval. The last time the NASCAR Cup Series hosted a points-paying race outside of the United States, it was Richard Petty’s debut race. 67 years later and the NASCAR Cup Series was once again outside the borders of the United States, this time in Mexico at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Four Skip Barber Racing School alumni finished Sunday’s race in the top ten with Alex Bowman (4th), Michael McDowell (5th), John Hunter Nemechek (6th), and Chris Buescher (10th) having strong runs. This was Nemecheck’s career-best finish on a road course. The strong contingency of Skip Barber Racing School alumni in the NASCAR Xfinity Series were even more impressive, locking out seven of the top ten spots. Austin Hill (3rd), Christian Eckes (4th), Connor Zilisch (5th), Jeb Burton (8th), Harrison Burton (9th), and Sammy Smith (10th) all finished at the front of the field. In Porsche Carrera Cup North America, Skip Barber alumni Aaron Jeansonnne scored a pair of top ten finishes from Montreal where the series was serving as a prelude to Formula 1. Additionally, fellow graduate Ashley Freiberg was tenth in Race 2. Next weekend, the NTT IndyCar Series will visit Road America where they will be joined by Indy NXT, NASCAR will head for Pocono Raceway and the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship will spend Six Hours around Watkins Glen for the third leg of the Michelin Endurance Cup.
