Skip Barber alumni on the podium!

Skip Barber alumni had a successful weekend in motorsports, with podiums in both NASCAR and IndyCar. In NASCAR, Michael McDowell took a solid podium finish, placing third at in a nail biter of a race at Talladega. Right before his big win, McDowell joined Skip Barber Racing School at Circuit of the Americas to prepare for the inaugural running of NASCAR at COTA. In IndyCar, Skip Barber was well represented on the podium. Two Skip Barber Racing School Alumni battled it out for the win, on the 1.8-mile street course in the NTT IndyCar Series at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg this past Sunday. Colton Herta would find himself back on the top of the podium after leading nearly the entire race from pole position. Josef Newgarden in SB Race Series Runner up Josef Newgarden put together a strong charge in the final 25 laps, but was unable to best Herta. Following his fathers path, Colton Herta attended the Skip Barber 3-Day and 2-Day Advanced Racing School in 2012, then competed in the Skip Barber Summer and Winter Series in 2012. Newgarden started his Skip Barber journey with a 3 Day Racing School at Daytona in December of 2005, ultimately taking second place in the Skip Barber National Series in 2008.
