Skip Barber Racing School alumni Westin Workman claimed two podium finishes and his third win of the Toyota GR Cup North America season at VIRginia International Raceway. Workman has now won three of the last four races in the one-make series and holds onto the championship lead. Fellow Skip Barber alumni Jaxon Bell added one podium finish and a fourth-place result to bolster his second-place position in the championship standings. Racing alongside Toyota GR Cup at VIRginia International Raceway was TC America powered by the Skip Barber Racing where James Klimas scored his season-best finish in the No. 61 Middletown Toyota GR Corolla TC. Skip Barber Racing also had entries in McLaren Trophy America, GT4 America, and Toyota GR Cup. Among the highlights from the team’s weekend was a pole position start and podium finish for Tommy Pintos and Cooper Broll in the No. 919 PiedParker McLaren Artura Trophy Evo. Brothers Alex and Michael Garcia also added a top five finish in the No. 07 PolePace Aston Martin Vantage GT4 as they fought through rainy conditions on Saturday afternoon. In GT World Challenge America, Skip Barber alumni Robby Foley swept the weekend with a pair of victories in the Pro-Am class while Connor De Phillipi earned two podiums in the Pro class. The NTT IndyCar Series traveled north to Canada for its annual trip to the streets of Toronto where Skip Barber Racing School alumni Colton Herta started from pole position and finished the 90-lap race in fourth. His Andretti Global teammate, and fellow Skip Barber graduate, Kyle Kirkwood finished sixth. Also, on-track in Toronto was USF 2000 where Skip Barber alumni Jack Jeffers swept the weekend with a pair of victories. Former Skip Barber Race Series competitors Jeshua Alianell (7th) and Caleb Gafrarar (2nd) also had strong runs in Race 2. In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Skip Barber Racing School alumni Connor Zilisch secured his second consecutive win with a victory in a rain-shortened race from Dover Motor Speedway. Rain also impacted the final 15 laps of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race where alumni Alex Bowman (3rd), Bubba Wallace (7th), and Chris Buescher (9th) finished in the ten. Skip Barber graduate Ty Dillon’s Cinderella run in the NASCAR In-Season Challenge continued as he bested fellow alumni John Hunter Nemechek to advance to the finals of the five-round bracket. If Dillon can finish ahead of Ty Gibbs at Indianapolis, he’ll earn a one million dollar payday.
