Skip Barber Instructors In Action, Plus A Title For Racing Rookies!

Skip Barber Racing School celebrated a championship-winning weekend across American motorsports, highlighted by a World Racing League (WRL) East Championship at Sebring International Raceway, top-five finishes in NASCAR’s Craftsman Truck Series, and a strong performance by Joey Logano in the NASCAR Cup Series at Phoenix Raceway.

The weekend also saw Skip Barber Racing School instructor Jackson Lee compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, demonstrating the school’s active presence in professional motorsports.

Skip Barber Racing Claims WRL East Championship at Sebring

Skip Barber Racing capped a successful weekend at Sebring International Raceway by securing the 2026 World Racing League East Championship.

Competing in the GP2 class, Saverio Striglia, Dylan Weber, and Ryan Emami shared driving duties aboard the No. 216 Skip Barber Racing entry, earning two podium finishes across the weekend’s endurance races.

The trio finished third in one race and second in the other, securing valuable championship points and ultimately claiming the Eastern Championship title.

The achievement reflects the consistency, preparation, and teamwork required to succeed in endurance racing. With multiple drivers sharing a car, success depends not only on outright speed but also on managing traffic, executing pit stops, and maintaining performance throughout lengthy races.

The championship represents another significant accomplishment for Skip Barber Racing and reinforces the organization’s commitment to developing competitive drivers across multiple racing disciplines.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series — Phoenix Raceway

Skip Barber Racing School alumni delivered impressive results in Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Phoenix Raceway. Christian Eckes led the alumni contingent with a second-place finish, advancing from 13th on the starting grid to finish just 1.556 seconds behind race winner Kaden Honeycutt.

Fellow Skip Barber alumnus Jake Garcia produced one of the race’s strongest drives, climbing 18 positions from 23rd to finish fifth. Grant Enfinger added a ninth-place finish, while Chandler Smith finished 15th after succumbing to a pit-road penalty. Eckes’ runner-up performance moved him into third in the championship standings as the series approaches its final three races of the season.

Skip Barber Racing School instructor Jackson Lee was also in action at Phoenix Raceway, competing in the No. 23 Ford F-150. As both a professional racing driver and an instructor at Skip Barber Racing School, Lee represents the school’s connection between motorsports education and active competition. His participation in NASCAR’s national touring series gives students in our new Late Model programs the opportunity to learn from an instructor with firsthand experience competing at the professional level.

Joey Logano Sweeps Opening Stages at Phoenix

Skip Barber Racing School alumnus Joey Logano delivered one of the most competitive performances in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Freeway Insurance 500 at Phoenix Raceway. After qualifying second, Logano took command during the opening stages, winning both Stage 1 and Stage 2 and leading 84 laps.

Despite demonstrating race-winning pace, a vibration issue disrupted his afternoon. Logano ultimately recovered to finish sixth, collecting valuable points for his championship aspirations. Logano's three NASCAR Cup Series titles have all come in even-numbered years, 2018, 2022, and 2024, so a 2026 crown would be no surprise to that stat nerds.

Fellow Skip Barber alumnus Ross Chastain finished ninth, securing another top-ten result. Several additional graduates delivered solid performances, including Josh Berry in 11th, Carson Hocevar in 12th, Noah Gragson in 13th, and Todd Gilliland in 14th. Bubba Wallace also showed impressive speed, leading 52 laps before finishing 17th.
