The iconic Skip Barber Race Series heads to New Jersey Motorsports Park this weekend, where a competitive field, including two drivers who will make their Race Series debuts, will battle in a pair of races. The fight at the top of the standings remains intense, as Alan Orzynski continues his pursuit of championship leader Ivan Machado Perez. Perez’s summer hot streak began at VIRginia International Raceway in May and shows no signs of slowing. Since earning a pair of victories on VIR’s South Course, the Spaniard has added four consecutive wins. The next-best performer over those four races is Alan Orzynski, whose 124-point haul has brought him within just seven points of third in the championship standings. Logan Anderson was the biggest mover coming out of Watkins Glen, gaining two positions in the standings. He now sits fifth overall with six races remaining. Trevor LaTourrette also gained one spot in the championship standings thanks to a pair of top-five finishes at Watkins Glen. His 52-point performance in New York is second only to his standout weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park earlier this season, where he earned 54 points, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in Race 2. Prior to the official Skip Barber Race Series sessions, several days of Advanced Coaching programs will be held. These sessions allow drivers to train with Skip Barber Racing School instructors and refine their skills before the Race Series action begins. That additional track time is especially valuable as this weekend marks the first time competitors will tackle New Jersey Motorsports Park in the Skip Barber Formula Car. Two drivers, Robert Mosteller from Dallas, Texas, and Thaden Van Wong from Calgary, Canada, will make their Race Series debuts this weekend. Both are part of a group of drivers training with the Skip Barber Racing School in preparation for Friday’s race action. Also among that group is Scott Pyle, who made his debut at Watkins Glen two weeks ago. John O’Donnell, who earned a podium finish on VIR’s South Course in just his third career race, and Grant Mitchell, who is coming off a career-best weekend at VIR’s North Course, are both slated to return to the grid. The pair of rookies impressed mightily in the first half of the 2025 season and will certainly factor into the conversation this weekend. Brazilian karter Naim Saleh, currently fourth in the championship standings, will also be back in action. Saleh’s two most recent races were both highly successful outings with the rising talent capturing four podium finishes across the four races, including a pair of second-place finishes.
