Championship-leader Jaylan Battley will lead the Skip Barber Race Series into the fastest track of the year, Wisconsin’s Road America for the penultimate round of the 2026 season.
A pair of podium finishes for Battley has helped him widen the gap between himself and Aaron Vazquez, the winner of last year’s Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series grand prize. There is no driver on a hotter streak than Charlie Gillespie, however. The Floridan swept the week at VIR’s Full Course and has amassed three podium finishes in the last four races.
Those two victories in Virginia has brought him just one-point shy of Canada’s Thaden Van Wong, whose pair of third-place results helped him keep ahold of third-place in the Driver’s Standings. Just behind them is Shureed Kabir who matched his career-best finish in the Skip Barber Race Series with a fourth-place result in Virginia.
Kabir has now finished fourth on four occasions and continues to knock on the door of the podium. With a fresh slate for all drivers at Road America, this could be the weekend that sees him land some new décor for the mantle. He has Ocean Lopez keeping him on his heels as the battle for fifth in the Driver’s Championship begins to intensify.
Part time driver Adam Sana returns to the action. The young New Yorker has kept busy balancing his formal education duties with racing and has looked impressive despite his freshness to the Series. In the four races he has done, Sana has finished in the top-five in three of them.
Finally, Master’s Class driver Matt Ales has proved he has what it takes to compete for overall wins. While the Californian leads the Master’s Class, his results, if calculated within the broader Driver’s Championship, would put him comfortably in third place.
The pair of races at Road America this weekend will serve as the penultimate round of the season before the finale at Sonoma Raceway on November 3 & 4. Sonoma Raceway will also host the next edition of the Skip Barber Race Series Winter Shootout, where current championship-leader Jaylan Battley began his Race Series journey. Registration for that event is still open.
