A trio of Skip Barber Racing School alumni swept the NTT IndyCar Series from Detroit, headlined by a second win of the season for Kyle Kirkwood and a career-best finish for Santino Ferrucci. Alumni Colton Herta rounded out the podium of the 100-lap race. Herta started the race from pole position with a blistering time that bested the field by two-tenths of a second. Fellow Skip Barber graduates Josef Newgarden (9th) and Alexander Rossi (10th) bookended the top ten on Sunday afternoon. Kirkwood led 48 laps, the most of any driver in the race. IndyCar shared the streets of Detroit with the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship where graduates Ricky Taylor (2nd) and Colin Braun (6th) had strong finishes. In Nashville, the NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Craftsman Truck Series spent the weekend at the 1.330-mile oval of Nashville Superspeedway. For the second week in a row, Connor Zilisch finished second in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, once again matching his career-best finish on an oval. Graduates Ross Chastain (5th) and Austin Hill (7th) also finished in the top ten in the Xfinity Series race. On Sunday night, Skip Barber alumni Carson Hocevar delivered a second-place result that matched his career-best finish. He was joined in the top ten by fellow alumni Joey Logano (4th), Bubba Wallace (6th), and Erik Jones (7th). In Spain, Skip Barber alumni Zak Brown and his McLaren Racing outfit scored a 1-2 finish from Barcelona, the team’s third such result, furthering their lead in the World Constructor’s Standings.
