Ten Skip Barber Racing School alumni have qualified for the 109th Indianapolis 500. The group is headlined by Josef Newgarden, who is chasing a three-peat at the famed race. Two other Skip Barber Racing School graduates, Alexander Rossi and Ryan Hunter-Reay, will be looking for a second triumph at the Speedway. Newgarden, Castroneves, Rossi, and Hunter-Reay will be joined on the grid of 33 drivers by fellow alumni Conor Daly, Santino Ferrucci, Sting Ray Robb, Kyle Kirkwood, Colton Herta, and Marco Andretti. Six of the last ten races have been won by a Skip Barber Racing School graduate. On Sunday night, NASCAR hosted its annual All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Skip Barber Racing School alumni Joey Logano led a race-high 139 laps on his way to a second place finish. Graduates Ross Chastain (3rd), Alex Bowman (4th), Tyler Reddick (7th), Kyle Busch (8th), and Chris Buescher (10th) finished in the top ten. Skip Barber alumni Noah Gragson (13th) won the fan vote to advance into the evening’s main event. In Sebring, alumni Westin Workman swept the Toyota GR Cup North America weekend with a pair of victories. Workman led 17 of Race 1’s 19 laps and followed up that performance by capturing a wire-to-wire victory in Race 2. In both races he was joined on the podium by Skip Barber Race Series graduate Jaxon Bell. Workman wasn’t the only alumni to sweep the weekend as Connor De Phillippi took home a pair of overall victories in GT World Challenge America. Fellow graduate Robby Foley was first in the Pro-Am class of Race 1 and second in Race 2. In TC America powered by the Skip Barber Racing School, Skip Barber Race Series Director Mike Ogren made his debut. Ogren drove Skip Barber Racing’s Acura Integra Type S to a pair of podium finishes. Lastly, Skip Barber Racing School graduate Zak Brown and his McLaren Racing outfit earned another double podium, this time at Imola. With more steady performances rolling in, the team continues to expand their lead in the World Constructor’s Championship. Next weekend needs little introduction as racing’s triple header will begin with the Monaco Grand Prix, move to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and close the night from Charlotte Motor Speedway.
